The charming and historical town of Berry is the northern gateway to the Shoalhaven and is located less than two hours from Sydney and 2 1/2 hours from Canberra. Originally known as Broughton Creek, the town and the surrounding area was a private estate owned by one man, David Berry. The thriving rural town has grown to be one of the states most popular weekend destinations, with beautiful B & B''s, wineries, untouched beaches and soaring sandstone escarpments as a back drop to rolling green pastures. The area was once the service centre for saw-milling and dairy farming but is now more famous for antiques, country crafts and a vast array of quality cuisine. The dairy farming has survived and the annual Berry Show on the first weekend after Australia Day is the place to see some of the districts finest live stock and local produce. The first Sunday of each month the famous Berry Markets attracts thousands from around the state as the largest country markets in NSW. A busy bustling country town, Berry with its cafes and shops is a friendly place to visit with a huge variety for all to see.
